I live and farm in Hever and have found the noise level from overhead planes to be overwhelming. It is such that it drowns out birdsong and any other natural noise. It is impossible to have a conversation outdoors or hear the radio or make a phone call if by an open window or door. Sitting outside in the summer to eat or have an evening drink is no pleasure anymore because of the constant interruption. Therefore the prospect of even more noise is awful. Recently at a funeral service at our local church in Hever, the priest had to stop as his voice was drowned out and regularly in the church on a Sunday morning there has to be pauses. The church of course does not benefit from any insulation and being grade 1 listed never will. At a concert in the Hever castle outdoor theatre this summer, the show was marred by constant interruptions. Aircraft noise is constant and horribly pervasive- indoors and out. Summertime sleeping is fractured because of large noisy aircraft screaming overhead whilst windows are ajar for ventilation. I live in a listed house so will never be able to insulate against noise either. Current noise levels are bad enough but anymore would be intolerable and ruinous to the the village and surrounding area.
