This proposal should be rejected because it is completely contrary to national and international commitments and obligations to decarbonise and achieve net zero within a short time after the project if approved becomes operational. It will materially and adversely affect large numbers of people living under or near the flightpaths. It will have a material adverse effect on the environment with major vehicle movements required for the construction of the new runway and afterwards by increased traffic to and from the airport in already severely congested part of the country. It is completely contrary to the government policy of levelling up which would require increased airport capacity outside the south east.
