Living immediately under the Gatwick flight path in a rural area I am strongly opposed to any proposed Gatwick Airport expansion. Any increase in air traffic brings higher noise pollution, air pollution and busier roads. Ambient noise levels in particular are severely impacted in a rural setting especially during summer months when flight numbers increase. In addition Stewart Wingate’s (Gatwick CEO) appointment as Co-Chair of the Aviation Council to oversee the proposal beggars belief and makes a mockery of independent, evidence based planning applications. I cannot believe that this was deemed acceptable to government. The message coming through is money, money, money at all costs regardless of the health of population, environment and indeed the planet.
