I have significant concerns about the impact on noise pollution, road traffic and air quality in my constituency. - Noise pollution: I am extremely concerned about the impact of noise pollution in my constituency that would result from Gatwick's planned expansion. Areas of my constituency are already affected by noise pollution, with constituents whose houses reside under flight paths complaining about the effect the noise from planes flying over is having on them. The expansion of Gatwick would significantly increase this noise and the amount of people affected with the rise in aircraft flying over every hour. - Increased traffic and stress on infrastructure: Gatwick's expansion would put a huge strain on local infrastructure and therefore the communities in my constituency. It would lead to a large increase in road traffic passing through my constituency with the resulting increase in congestion, traffic noise and air pollution having a major impact on constituents. The local road infrastructure is unsuitable as it stands for the current volume of traffic. - Air quality: Expansion of Gatwick and the resulting large increase in flights would substantially increase CO2 emissions both from aviation emissions and from the pollution caused by the increased road traffic.
