I wish to comment on several aspects of this proposed project. 1. The proposed increase in flights from a 2nd runway will adversely affect my day-to-day life because of increased air craft noise. Night time noise adversely affects my sleep and day time noise is also disruptive, particularly given that I have chosen to live in a rural area. 2. Adverse effects on local communities in terms of extra traffic, pressure on local housing stock and on local roads and services. 3. Climate change. Given all we know about the causes and effects of climate change, increasing airport capacity is a peversive and foolish thing to do. 4, Gatwick airport is behaving in an underhand manner. They are seeking to by-pass normal planning procedures by claiming that they are renovating the runway when they actually wish to re-purpose it.
