Night Noise and Disruption A ban on night flights should be a condition of any expansion at Gatwick. These are already generating intrusive noise particularly in the summer. The airport should also be required to set out a comprehensive package of measures to incentivise the use of the quietest aircraft at night outside the hours of a ban. Long Term Climate change and Local Air pollution. The likely local impact on air quality and air pollution will potentially have an impact on respiratory health of local residents and there will also be more generalised impact on the UKs ability to meet its climate change commitments. Transport impacts Gatwick’s targets to increase how many people bus, train, walk and cycle are insufficient to prevent a massive increase in road traffic around the airport. This is already a problematic issue.
