Gatwick does not currently use two runways. While the second runway exists, it is an incorrect statement / claim by Gatwick Airport to suggest that there are already two runways operating together. Only one runway currently operates at any one time. Changing the use of the runways such that two runways operate at the same time would significantly increase aircraft movements and related noise over the local area, and adversely impact air quality. All of this would have adverse impacts on residents' wellbeing. The local road network is also inadequate to accommodate the additional traffic associated with the extra flights that would operate at Gatwick. In addition to impacts on local residents (and house values), there would be severely adverse impacts on local wildlife / biodioversity through increased traffic, noise and pollution.
