I object strongly to the expansion of Gatwick airport for the following reasons. Allowing Gatwick to expand sends ridiculous mixed messages from politicians. What is the point of the London Ulez if Gatwick expands. Expansion at Gatwick will potentially add 1.5 million tons of co2 to the atmosphere every year. Contradicting the U.K’s legally binding targets to reduce co2 emissions. An exhaustive and very expensive public enquiry found that Heathrow airport would bring the most beneficial airport expansion for the UK. Not Gatwick. Many communities around Gatwick airport already pay a high price in terms of noise, air pollution road and rail congestion. Expanding Gatwick will make all of these worse.
