There is a delicate infrastructure around the area of Gatwick airport. An intricate mix of environmental and social issues that have been balanced with the current level of traffic around Gatwick. Sadly the prospect of increasing the level of disruption to wildlife and residents will destroy this balance and create more death, illness and planetary pollution. There is already a considerable reduction in the amount of avian wildlife on the approach to Gatwick. We live under the flight approach and it is a daily struggle to tempt wildlife to feed and assist their welfare. At a time when we are decimating species that were plentiful in previous decades, that in itself should be reason enough not to expand the airport facility. However with mental health pressures and air quality proving to be ever more important to human health this should also be enough to remove any consideration of opening up another runway. Commercial pressures continually seem to win over human and planetary requirements - and while scientists plaintively request action to be taken to keep the planet and a wide variety of species (including our own) alive - the commercial steamroller runs roughshod over it all at our expense. It is not necessary to fly to foreign countries any more than we do and indeed it is even beneficial to fly less. Pollution from air fuel on its own is good enough reason to resist this. Please. For our sake - the planets sake and all wildlife stop this madness and use some common sense and refuse this murderous idea.
