We have lived close to Gatwick for [Redacted] and were part of the "One`s enough "campaign to stop a second runway at Gatwick. We regard this project as yet another attempt to get a second runway this time by stealth. The infrastructure transport links to Gatwick are already stretched in an area where we already have transport chaos without the addition of all the proposed extra flights. The M23 is the only main road leading to the airport and when there is an accident on it traffic comes to a standstill. There is only one rail link which is already often over crowded. We just cannot imagine the traffic chaos if this project were to go ahead affecting all the small country villages close to Gatwick which are already suffering from transport on the way to the airport using our villages as a rat run if there are problems on the M23 and rail like. We completely oppose this project, the disruption to the area whilst it is being done and the added pollution that will ensue plus we deplore the attempt to concrete over more of the beautiful Sussex countryside that is unique and the reason we are living here after all. We do not find it is at all necessary. There are other airports in the South East that can be expanded such as Manston where direct train lines into London can be installed rather than pollute even more the Surrey/Sussex part of the country just to satisfy the owners of Gatwick hell bend on expanding the airport.
