  • NOISE I understand the proposals for Gatwick would allow it to grow to the size of Heathrow. The amount of air traffic noise is currently unbearable, particularly in the spring/summer/autumn months, so any increase would be disastrous for those on the flight path. * NIGHT FLIGHTS As above but even worse. * ROAD TRAFFIC As above, apart from the M23 link to the M25, all other roads in East Sussex and West Kent are essentially country roads with nowhere near the capacity required to absorb the proposed traffic increases, making life even worse for those under the flight path. * ENVRONMENT The proposed increases in air and ground traffic would be contrary to all emissions targets. The 'need' for the proposed expansion is contrary to the ANPS and Gatwick is the wrong airport to expand if there is any expansion at all. * ECONOMIC CASE The potential economic benefits are not realistically balanced against the social and environmental costs by the applicant. Of course the applicant will want to expand the airport and shareholder returns as much as possible but this would not be in the public interest. * CONDITIONS Any expansion should be conditional upon reduced noise (e.g. requirement for whisper jets only, steeper landing descents, shared/alternated flight path routes, no night flying, etc)
