I am opposing the development of the second runway at Gatwick Airport. This will have a huge impact on the Surrey Hills Area of outstanding natural beauty, in respect of noise levels and light pollution. It will also hugely increase emissions and drop in air quality. The already very busy roads around Surrey and Sussex will have even more traffic to contend with if the airport increases in size and capacity. I do not feel that we should be increasing air traffic when we are trying to decrease our carbon footprint. I would like to register my opposition to the expansion of Gatwick Airport, which I have been trying to do since Sunday morning but the link is not working. We do not need more flights, which will increase CO2 emissions, noise, light pollution, air quality and road congestion in Surrey. We are supposed to be reducing our carbon footprint not adding to it! We want to preserve the natural beauty of the Surrey Hills, which is why we live here.
