I live in (Redacted) and do not believe that as a village on the flight path we have been informed of what the impact may be. When new houses are built we can see what the impact will be through plans, but I am not sure if this means more flights over our house, or whether the flights will be the same and the new runway has a marginally different flight path. I would expect a village impacted potentially as heavily as ours should be better informed, The details are not clear on the website or plans. I am concerned about the increase in aircraft noise which has not been properly communicated to us as a village. I am also concerned about a decline in air quality further as Gatwick ignores the far-reaching impact of road and air emissions created by its operations. The airport sits on the Brighton Main Line, which can’t be expanded. The trains are also very unreliable and means more road traffic and emmissions. We face a climate emergency, and a new runway would add a significant amount of carbon and greenhouse gases – Evidence CCC (2020) The Sixth Carbon Budget – Methodology Report. Available at: www.theccc.org.uk The biggest issue for me is lack of easily understandable impacts to a village that potentially will be impacted. It cannot be right that Lingfield has not been properly consulted with a clear list of impacts such as xx number of additional flights going over your house, x% of extra cars on the roads near the village (A22), increased demand for housing, schools by those working at the airport etc.
