Increased noise pollution is the first problem associated with the extension of the runway. The noticeable difference in sound between the two runways is extremely disturbing to people and animals. The second issue is the lack of infrastructure in Charlwood to cope with the increased demand on the roads from the airport's out-of-town customers. Thirdly, the environmental impact the increased number of aircraft will have on our local biodiversity. Our government is already trying to implement net-zero plans to create a greener Britain; this expansion does not seem to be in line with our government's message. Finally, the smell of fuel from the airport can be overwhelming every morning. I am worried about how much worse this will be if both runways are in use and what impact this will have on my health and that of my family.
