The airport is far too busy now with the number of flights in and out on a daily basis. Any kind of second runway would considerably aggravate this situation. In addition the extra number of flights, the increased amount of traffic for both passengers and staff will cause untold extra pollution in the air quality both adjacent to the airport but also both the local and national road networks. There will also raised levels of pollution and noise for anybody living or working underneath or adjacent to the flight paths.
