The noise impacts of the proposal across a wide area of Surrey and Sussex have not been properly assessed. At present, aircraft taking off to the west frequently cross into the Surrey Hills AONB as they turn right at low altitude. The effect is exacerbated by the fact that regulations are set by reference to altitude above sea level, but Leith Hill and the village of Coldharbour (on the eastern edge of the AONB) are at 600 to 1,000 feet above sea level.
