I live in a property that is one of the closest to the eastern end of the runway at Gatwick. My first concern is does Gatwick need a second runway? Surely taking into consideration the current climate crisis surely it would better to reduce the environmental impacts of the airport rather than to increase them? Existing noise is a huge issue and adding further aircraft and traffic noise will add/exacerbate to the current situation. The prospect of creating 14K jobs at Gatwick. Will this help local environment or destroy it? Where will they live, how will they travel to work, etc. The area I live in is also prone to localised flooding. Since moving here in 1997 during bouts of heavy rain it is not uncommon for raw sewage to discharge from the sewers into our front garden. Thames Water are fully aware of the situation and as yet have been unable to rectify this problem. Neither have the Local Council managed to ease road or ditch flooding. Ditches and culverts surrounding Gatwick property are rarely/never cleared. How are the surrounding roads, including mine, cope with the added construction vehicles? The noise, mess and changes to roads in the area. Having been told in the past that my house is on the Compulsory Purchase List due to Airport Expansion and its close proximity to airport, where has this advice now gone?
