The Conservators of Ashdown Forest, who are tasked with the care of this 2,500ha Special Protection Area, Special Area of Conservation and Site of Special Scientific Interest, have read through the information provided by Gatwick on their plans to use their emergency runway more regularly. Although we have seen that you have considered Ashdown Forest as a protected landscape, we have not been able to find information of an appropriate assessment of the possible impacts of increased noise and emissions on the integrity of the protected landscape and species at Ashdown. Our interest is in the flight path information, dispersal area and potential impact of emissions as the increased air track is over and/or close to the Forest. Also the potential increase in road traffic through the forest and the impact that would have. We would ask for more information on the impacts on the integrity of Ashdown Forest’s protected habitats and species to be considered as part of the DCO process please.
