I would like to object to the proposal put forward by Gatwick Airport for a new northern runway. Gatwick operates as a 24 hour airport and we already have disturbed nights and days without an increase in flight numbers. A second runway with Gatwicks proposed increase in flights will add to pollution Transport to the airport is not easy. Even for those with access to a rail line there are frequent strikes/bus replacements making rail travel uncertain For those without access to a station road access is at best unsatisfactory. The M23/M25 are both unsafe smart roads Where are extra employees going to come from. There is already a shortage of staff in many sectors in the area and a lack of infrastructure to build more affordable housing I can think of no good reason why Gatwick should build a second runway - the emergency runway should remain as just that.
