The airport has already had its application for a second runway rejected and this proposal strikes me as an attempt to run roughshod over the democratic process. Airport expansions create few new jobs, contrary to claims made by the airport, and the air, noise and light pollution created by them and the planes that use them is unacceptable to anyone living nearby or beneath their flight paths. In an age in which we are aware of the deleterious impacts of flying on the atmosphere, the proposal is negligent at best. Therefore, I oppose it.
