Gatwick Airport Northern Runway

The expansion of Gatwick Airport by use of the Northern Runway will have a detrimental impact on the area it is located in terms of unacceptable noise , aircraft exhaust fumes and the health of the local residents. An alternative solution would be to construct a new runway(s) on an existing coastal airport such as Southampton where there is less impact over populated inland areas . The best option is to close the airport down completely and use the site to construct a new town to provide urgently needed housing.
