I wish to register my OBJECTION against this Gatwick Airport proposal for a new runway. Air travel using fossil fuels needs to be phased out as soon as possible, not expanded to accommodate any perceived demand. It is an unsustainable form of travel in a climate and biodiversity crisis. The quality of the environment will get degraded if built, due to the knock-on development plus the extra traffic and harmful impacts of the runway itself on the immediate surroundings. In addition the extra noise and visual pollution will affect the health and wellbeing of the people of Sussex and their enjoyment of the peace and quiet of the Sussex countryside.
