In a year when we are witnessing worldwide the devastating impact of climate change, it is beyond belief that Gatwick Airport’s expansion plans can be seriously considered. The impact of increased CO2 emissions from both the additional flights and increased levels of traffic will have a damming effect on the local environment. The road and rail infrastructure that serves the airport is already severely under pressure. The damage caused by increased noise; the limited economic benefits to the area; the damage caused by urbanising existing rural areas.
