  1. The noise from air traffic landing and taking off from Gatwick is already very invasive in the area around Gatwick, and the development of a second runway would make this unbearably worse. 2. The road and rail access to Gatwick is already vastly overstretched, there are frequent long queues on the M23. 3. There is an urgent need for the people of the world to stop polluting the planet in which we live. Doubling the capacity of Gatwick runs contrary to this. Currently the airline industry is responsible for around 5% of global warming, and if passenger numbers double in the next 20 years as is forecast, then the effect of this is not difficult to see. Doubling Gatwick’s runway capacity runs completely contrary to the stated aim of achieving net zero and should not be approved.
