I live under the Gatwick flightpath, so any expansion at Gatwick is of huge interest. I remain to be convinced of why we need greater air traffic capacity in the south east, especially to the south of London, when most of the country's population lives north of London. There are better places to invest in air services where current access is far more limited than in the south east and where new jobs would be much more welcome. Also, in the past, Gatwick's expansion ideas have been woefully inadequate in terms af dealing with the infrastructure in the region to support the increase in passenger numbers: such as no new railways, no rail service between Heathrow and Gatwick, and just more road traffic on crowded motorways and A-roads. Presumably this is because such investments, while essential for the region, make Gatwick's shareholders no return.
