Concern that Gatwick Airport has, in the past, been less than honest and transparent about plans, changes to flight paths and likely impact on residents. Is this the case again? There is confusing debate about whether this is planning to make increased use of emergency runway, which sounds like trying to underplay the opening of a second runway by another name. Would like clarification on whether a significant expansion is being planned and what impact on local residents would truly be, particularly noise and pollution for those under flight paths. Also whether local infrastructure will cope - airport parking and road congestion is already problematic and was particularly so during the rail strikes in the summer. Surely rail links need upgrading/improving before any further increase in passenger numbers. Most people flying in to Gatwick are not visiting the local area - is this the best place to expand when rail links to London and M25 will be next step for huge percentage of the visitors?
