The additional passenger traffic would put unacceptable pressure on the surrounding area in terms traffic congestion, the lack of affordable housing for the additional workers required would also be an issue. Additionally most of the jobs created would be unsecure low skill, low pay jobs. As part of the agenda for levelling up, it would be better to re-direct the additional traffic to airports in the north of England which already have spare capacity and would not require expansion, they could also proveide capacity much sooner than further developing Gatwick.
