Presumably by having another runway more planes will be flying from Gatwick. This means that more people will be using the airport. The airport is already very congested. There are long queues for security and for immigration which will only get worse. Parking is difficult, there will be more traffic in the area as the train lines into gatwick are not reliable and bus services are non-existent, especially for early morning flights. Thus there will need to major infrastructure improvements in the local area in an already crowded south east. The easing of congestion at the airport should be the focus, such as by building a new airport in a part of the country that could then more usefully provide work and transport links to the continent and beyond.
