We are 15 miles from Gatwick and at times are bombarded with the noise of landing planes all following each other on virtually the same path. At its worst this can be a plane every 90 seconds. That gives you 15 seconds of relative quiet before the next approach. If this runway goes ahead and flight numbers are increased further then we will live under a constant blanket of noise with little respite at all. This goes on throughout the night in the summer and half term holidays. The worst hours around midnight and 1am. You cannot have your windows open when it is hot. Certain airlines frequently breach the landing rules and nothing is ever done about it. Rather than gliding in with engines cruising they are too low and have to climb or throw the engines into high revs. to pick up speed then back off again like a moped reving its engine repeatedly only far worse. Not only does this make the noise louder and more intrusive it causes far more polution than is necessary. Why is this just ignored when it is a simple fix with clear benefits?
