Increased noise. Increased noise at night and early mornings. Concentrated flight paths. Increased pollution. Crawley / Copthorne has a very high level. Road infrastructure needs expanding urgently: Road congestion: - M23 Jct 10 to Crawley is on maximum (or more) usage - The M23 constantly has traffic queueing to exit the motorway at Junction 9 (Gatwick junction) - creating dangerous situations. - as this is also Gatwick Airport airport's one main exit (the other 2 exit onto overloaded country roads), how will it cope with a major emergency? - the Drop Off / Collection points ( disgustingly charged for nowadays) are totally inadequate for the existing traffic, they are badly signposted causing chaos and confusion. High risks of danger to human life in this area. - car parking is insufficient at the moment - how will it cope with another runway? Public transport: - insufficient space on trains to London., Brighton for more passengers. More flights - more workers - further pressure on affordable housing. Flood risk in this area is extremely high - remember Gatwick opening their sluice gates a few years ago, causing unpredented flooding in Copthorne. There should definitely be a ban on night flights. Does this area really need another runway, or is it just the pressure from GAL. Economic stats do not add up. Strongly object to Stewart Wingate, Gatwick CEO, being Co-Chair of the Aviation Council. I note that ‘Mid Sussex District Council are not satisfied that the Applicant ( you/Gatwick Airport) engaged adequately with its advice on consultation prior to the submission of its application’. This is a massive worry and needs investigating. This adds to the shambles of 2 weeks ago.
