My main objections are the increase in emissions when we should all be trying to reduce our impact, immediately and urgently, in view of the disastrous climate situation. Just because 44million people want to fly, doesn’t mean they should! My other objection is the effect on my mental health. This summer has been the worst for aircraft noise since moving into our house 40 years ago. I’ve been regularly woken at 5am by the first wave of aircraft which has then continued at 2-3 minute intervals all day. On many occasions I have been in tears at the non stop noise and have even considered moving. It’s impossible to have windows closed in the summer but even closed and new double glazing doesn’t block the noise. Any increase in noise will be detrimental to both the environment and to me and my mental health. I urge you to reconsider.
