As an employer at Gatwick albeit a small business we are not for this project. The chaos this would cause would impact on the already creaking operation. Businesses can not as it is recruit and retain staff so I do not understand where Gatwick plans to get all these extra staff they say this project will create. To bring new people into the area would be a great strain on the already bursting facilities like Doctors, Dentists, Hospitals and Schools who themselves are struggling to get staff. My own (Redacted)Grandson has been put on a waitlist for the very school his older sister goes to. Something that has not been the norm. The last time we had major works at the airport, it was a nightmare trying to get into the airport on time. The extra traffic caused would be unacceptable not to mention the dust and noise. I have little confidence and can see no evidence that this will assist in gaining net zero in fact quite the opposite. We do not need this extra runway but what we do need is money to be invested in new assets on the airports like new baggage belts. New walkways to assist passengers to and from the gates. New entrance facilities to assist passengers getting into the airport. The car parks need money spent on them as do check in desks. The airport needs to stop forcing passengers to use on line check in. Not every one enjoys that experience. Passengers want to feel wanted on the airport not shoved through as quickly as possible in the hope they will spend more money. People will naturally spend more money if they have a pleasant experience, if their surroundings are clean and modern and will want to return. Staff will want to come and work at Gatwick for this same reason and most importantly will want to stay for all the right reasons. Bigger is not always better but better is always better and that is what we need at Gatwick. Investment in the right place is what is needed to get Gatwick back to how it was before.
