There is no need for an additional runway at Gatwick since it only operates at close to capacity for 6 weeks of the year. It does not fit with the Government target of net zero and is generally bad for the environment. It would be detrimental to the local infrastructure and create no additional employment for local people due to the increasing level of automation. It is also a backdoor attempt to get round the previous agreement that there would be no second runway.
