I believe the proposed project is seriously flawed and will make life for those living under the flight path such as myself and my family unbearable. In addition I do not believe the infrastructure currently in place can possibly support the expected extra traffic which this project would undoubtedly bring. Having bought my house here more than 30 years ago, I was fully aware that aircraft noise was a potential problem, but over the years it has got much worse and planes, when they come in to land appear to be flying at a lower altitude than they used to, causing more noise. Emirates Airlines is a particular example; one can see their name clearly emblazoned on the rear of the fuselage and I’m sure that they should be flying at a higher level than they currently are. On the subject of infrastructure, when one drives to Gatwick, the leg of the journey from East Grinstead or Lingfield to the M23 junction, which one then joins for access to the airport is nearly always congested, with a steady stream of slow traffic forming on the last 2 miles before the motorway. 30 years ago I could do the journey in 30 minutes, now it takes about 40 minutes. If another runway comes into use, I foresee further and much worse congestion which will reverberate up and down the smaller country lanes in the area. The CEO of Gatwick is a hard nosed businessman who is only motivated by profit for him and his company at the expense of the feelings of local residents. I urge you to reject the proposed project.
