I do not want a second runway at Gatwick. We have enough housing, roads and employment. We have no space for new housing unless we start eating up into the green belt and that should be safe guarded for the future and to keep our countryside safe. We need land for wildlife, farming and not for tarmacking and increasing flooding issues. We live very close to Gatwick and the amount of building around here is significant and the increase in traffic, extra roads, busy and strained rail services, schools at capacity, doctors, dentists , hospitals etc are insufficient for the present population - we cannot cope with more traffic and more people who are needing the everyday necessities for a good quality of life. The single runway is sufficient due to efficiency in take offs/landing and bigger planes. Much greater use should be made of regional airports so that people from the north, south west, west and east of the country do not need to come to Gatwick to catch their flight - travellers do not want the extra hassle and expense of travelling to Gatwick. All these extra journeys by road and rail are effecting people’s quality of life. We have been battling constant threats of the construction of a second runway at Gatwick for years and years. The proposal of a second runway must finally be put aside and no longer be a consideration. Gatwick is big enough.
