I object to the proposed second runway at Gatwick Airport on the grounds that it does not comply with the Net Zero agenda of reducing fuel emissions, pollution and negative impacts of climate change. The increased noise, air/road traffic and pollution will choke the countryside and clog up our already busy roads and skies. Also, all the new staff required to work at the expanded airport will require housing and education for their children. There is a severe shortage of school places for current residents as it is, and too much of the agricultural farmland that we rely on to feed the nation has already been built on to provide housing for the overspill of London and the masses flooding into the country from elsewhere. The negative environmental impacts, sadly, outweigh any positive gains from creating jobs and increasing freight trade.
