As we are situated so near to Gatwick Airport we are already on blighted land, so proposal of extending the emergency runway is just an added nightmare. The ‘over flights’ we suffer from when landings have to be aborted already cause us disturbance as they use our house as a marker (we know this to be true as we have tenants who are airline pilots) which will be rise due to increase of flights. This also causes the huge number of crows/rooks that fly up on mass from our trees on a 200ft hill to the south of the runway, one day these will cause an accident if they are sucked into an engine, this matter needs to be addressed. Gatwick and the surrounding area is already congested with traffic and increasing the amount of air traffic will only add to this. The problematic Gatwick M23 junction is already mentioned everyday in traffic bulletins. Where we are situated there is no available public transport that stops within 1/2 mile without crossing the very busy A23 dual carriage way and climbing across barriers. The public footpath along this stretch of the A23 is overgrown and only has a narrow gap to walk along and as part of the planned highway improvements should be rectified and not be an unrestricted speed limit zone. The amount of work and cost of said work that will need to be undertaken is absolutely mind blowing and totally unnecessary at the present time.
