The surrounding infrastructure can't handle Gatwick airport expanding any more. There aren't enough schools and hospitals as it is. Homes are needed but the area has been overwhelmed by new housing estates. Horsham has expanded out of surrounding A roads in to the countryside and has now merged with Billingshurst and Crwaley. Horley and Crawley have both grown so rapidly over the last 20 years they have all blended into one too. The roads can't cope and are so poorly maintained. The roads out of Charlwood toward Gatwick have been falling apart for the last 3 years and are riddled with potholes as they can't handle the traffic as it is and are never maintained. The volume of traffic is so bad now, everything is one big jam. To compensate multiply new sets of lights have been put in everywhere so it now takes much long to drive around and between Horley, Crawley, Horsham, Charlwood etc. The area is at capacity. The trains station doesn't benefit locals anymore and nor does the airport since they introduced the ridiculous car park fees just to drop someone off or collect someone for a national rail train service. It should also be free pick up and drop off for flights too. I regularly fly from Gatwick and don't see why it needs expanding. The mole valley area has also been filling up with more and more concrete and more Gatwick concrete is only going to worsen flooding and increase the temperatures in the summer even further. Also living in Charlwood. We're going to suffer from far more noise, both increased in volume of flights and noise levels by being closer to the expanded runway. This cannot go ahead.
