My strong objection to this application for Gatwick's expansion is based on the following ; * Huge increases in greenhouse gases ie; CO2 emissions. There is global evidence that we are already experiencing the dramatic and life changing effects of climate change. This proposal can only contribute detrimentally to greater and more serious, long-standing effects of climate change. * Increased aircraft noise which will have a huge, direct and detrimental impact on the quality of life of all those of us living in the Surrey area who already suffer the ill effects of air traffic in our localities. * Increased environmental pollution due to increased air traffic in and out of Gatwick, and a vastly increased flow of road traffic in and out of the Gatwick area. This will have an even more detrimental effect on the health and welfare of all those people living in the Surrey area. * This area is a Green Belt area, and an AONB as well as a SSSI area. I consider these areas should be respected and highly regarded for the invaluable and irreplaceable qualities that they bring to the countryside as a whole and should not be despoiled as they surely would be with the escalation of air traffic in these areas. * Wildlife has already suffered and continues to suffer irreparable damage to its habitats and safe environments. If we continue to encroach on wildlife habitats, which allowing this proposal to go ahead would certainly do, our valuable wildlife will face an irreversible and continuing decrease in numbers of all species. It is widely accepted that Britain is already one of the most nature depleted countries in the world. This is the conclusion of a current major report on the state of the country's ecosystem. It seems unquestionable that opening up yet more opportunities to pollute and thereby destroy further the country's wild spaces and hence wildlife would be a catastrophic error. I would like to register my most vehement objection to the above being my/our legacy to the future.
