The site is unsuitable for a project of this size. It needs to be below the surface to be landscaped but the aquifer is near the ground level. There are contamination fears. It closely situated between two historic villages on the River Cam. This area is used for green belt recreation for many who live in Cambridge. The proposed site is situated on the green belt between these two villages and is valuable arable land needed to feed our nation more self sufficiently. The present sewage treatment works has been future proofed recently at great cost. If the proposed NE Cambridge development is to go ahead so that Anglian Water can profit from it, a more suitable site is along the A10 near the AMEY refuse recycling site and Waterbeach new town would be appropriate. Any objections the College owners of the site have for their own development schemes should be over ruled by the Government if the County Council has vested interests.
