To the Planning Inspectorate in the matter of Anglian Water’s application to relocate its sewage works to Honey Hill. I am registering to log my objection to this project. My objection has an economic, policy and environmental/ climate basis. From an economic perspective, it makes no sense to build a new sewage treatment plant when the existing one is fully functional; as a taxpayer, I object to my taxes being used to fund a project that is superfluous and wasteful. From a policy standpoint, building on the agricultural Green Belt goes counter to national and local planning policy. From an environmental and climate standpoint, this project is going to materially affect the Conservation areas of Fen Ditton and Horningsea, as well as Wicken Fen and the Cambridgeshire Dykes. It also creates a major risk of water contamination due to the presence of a Principal Chalk Aquifer; as I understand, there are residents in the area who still draw their water from wells and whose health therefore is going to be put at risk. I also would like to remind you of the high carbon emissions from cement: given the state of climate crisis we find ourselves in, we should only build new cement structures where absolutely necessary and from what I have seen this plant is not necessary. Many thanks in advance for considering my objection.
