My fundamental objection to this planning proposal is that, by Anglian Water’s own admission, there is no operational need for a relocation of Cambridge Waste Water Treatment Works. However if such relocation were required I have many objections to Honey Hill as the site. Foremost is that it is in Green Belt land and any development within it goes against both national and local policy. The area concerned is part of the chalk aquifer and as such disturbance of it should be avoided. Indeed because of this the proposed facilities can not be sunk into the ground. This then means that they would be be visible from all directions. The proposed bund would only add to this visual disturbance and do little to disguise the facility. During and after the construction there would be a very great increase in heavy traffic and the proposed access route seems totally inadequate and would lead to increased congestion in and around the villages of Horningsea and Fen Ditton. There would be a loss of both prime agricultural land and wild life habitat as well as local amenity.
