I don’t think that the sewage works should be relocated at all, to anywhere, and definitely not to an area of green belt. My specific issues are as follows: 1. Building on green belt. 2. The carbon cost of the whole project is huge – including the demolition of the current site, building the new one and also the construction of new houses on the old site (which I don’t think is always taken into account) 3. The ongoing question of whether Cambridge can actually sustain more new houses from a groundwater perspective 4. The massive increase in heavy duty traffic going to and from the site, especially on a route that is used by schoolchildren commuting to Fen Ditton Primary School from Horningsea. 5. The impact of the loss of green space on the mental and physical wellbeing of people living in Cambridge 6. The loss of farmland at a time when we need to become more rather then less self sufficient in terms of food production. 7. It’s a huge amount of money to spend on something that should not be necessary as the current sewage works were ‘future-proofed’ relatively recently.
