I strongly oppose the plans to demolish the existing sewage works and relocate it, less than a mile away from the current site, on green belt land. The arable farmland that will be lost is not consistent with local planning policy and with food security rightly a national priority, it will run contrary to this key strategic objective. I am also concerned that the true level of carbon emissions associated with these plans is not being accurately represented. I support new housing on brownfield sites, but to artificially create a brownfield site by destroying a sewage works that has been upgraded and that will be fully operational for years to come, is financially and environmentally nonsensical.
