This proposal does not meet the essential criterion of being necessary. The existing sewage works are fit for purpose and could be operative for several decades to come. This plan proposes to relocate them to a site only a very short distance down the road, at vast expense, and on Green Belt land. It will be paid for by taxpayers' money, and the principal beneficiaries will be the developers who will move in to build on the vacated land.
