The construction of the sewage works poses considerable negative effects on the site, out weighing any presumed benefit that the project may suggest both socially and environmentally. Primarily, construction on the Green Belt is contrary to national and local planning policy, impacting the ecosystems within the Fens and the current agriculture that thrives within it. Not only is there reason to protect such a historic and prevalent setting, but replacing a present fully-functioning sewage works within such close proximity of the proposed without any justifiable reason reason further imposes a great carbon cost from a cement heavy construction.
